First I wish to make an apology. I spent the day caught up in all the post election hype and simply forgot to make a post to publicly thank all of our veterans. I'm sincerely sorry that I allowed something so trivial to cause me to forget people who deserve our attention today.
As I was thinking about what to say I was reminded of a poem I read a while back in a novel. In the book, the poem was actually a song they sang but obviously since it was a novel, there isn't any music written for it. I include only the part that seems relevant to what we are celebrating today.
For thy Sake-
For the sake of thee I stood my ground
For the sake of thee I bore the sound
Of bullets as they whistled past
And each one sang: All flesh is grass.

Well, I want to thank all of you who, for our sake, stood your ground so this nation can remain safe. Thank you for your service. Thank you for your duty, honor and dedication. Every citizen here owes you a debt we simply cannot ever repay. I hope we can at least make a dent in what this country does owe you.
